Kolkata to Gangasagar ferry Service Update :
The West Bengal state Government has decided to start cruise service from Kolkata to Ganga Sagar within December by joining hands with a private company.
One will be able to reach Kapilmuni’s ashram in Ganga Sagar in just three to four hours by the new cruise service. The service will be available every day. The cruise will leave daily at 07:30 am in the morning from the jetty at the Millenium Park. It will reach Ganga Sagar’s Kachuberia ferry Ghat by 10:30 am in the morning. The travelers on their way to Sundarbans can also use this service. They will be dropped at Namkhana.
Presently, one has to use a train from Sealdah or use the road to reach Ganga Sagar from Kolkata. By using the train or road, one will have to first arrive at Kakdwip. Then, he/she will have the take a vessel and cross Muriganga to reache Sagar’s Kachuberiya. Then, from there one will have to take a car to reach Kapilmuni’s Ashram at Gangasagar.It takes at least five to seven hours to reach Ganga Sagar by train or road. It can take upto 12 hours if there is low tide in the river Ganges.
However, with the new cruise service by the state government, one will be able to reach within three hours.
On the other hand, the cruise will leave for Kolkata from Kachuberiya every day at 3:00 pm.
